Northern Illinois Youth Flag Football Coach’s Creed
As a Northern Illinois Youth Flag Football coach, I understand and embrace the responsibility that I have to provide a safe, educational, and positive environment for ALL players and parents involved in the youth sports program. By taking the responsibility of head coach for a NIFFL team, I agree to the following:
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
- I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
- I promise to review and practice the basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.
- I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
- I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will from their use at all NIFFL events.
- I have read and agree to abide by the Northern Illinois Flag Football League
Zero Tolerance” policy. I will be responsible for informing my players and their parents of this policy.
- I am responsible for the actions of my players, parents, and fans during all NIFFL events and understand that disciplinary action may be taken against me for their behavior.
- I will promote the PLAYS (Positive, Lasting Attitudes in Youth Sports) philosophy to my players and parents.
- I have received the rules and regulations for the sport league for which I am coaching.
- I will abide by these rules and I will inform the players and parents on my team of these rules. If I feel that a rule is unclear, I will ask an NIFFL Representative to clarify it for me.
- I will ensure that all my assistant coaches are informed of and will abide by all rules and standards set forth in this agreement.
- I will allow the NIFFL to post my name, phone number and e-mail address on the
NIFFL home page so that my players can communicate more effectively with me.
